Parent Perspectives on Postsecondary Transition

This session will include both parents of high school students preparing to transition and parents of students already in the postsecondary setting. If you are a teacher, parent, employer, individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or an affiliate of an individual with ASD, you will want to hear this presentation. These parents will relay their tips, strategies, triumphs, trials, and the resources that have helped them and their students prepare and transition to postsecondary education or employment.

During this webinar, Marcfirst will the share and explore data about Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the workplace. Marcfirst is an organization that since 1955 has provided resources to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities. This webinar will highlight Marcfirst’ s Supported Employment and High School Transition Programs. Participants will be given access to resources for interviewing, disclosure, choosing the right work environment, and workplace communication.

This webinar will outline the differences in legislation, services, and supports for students with ASD in college. Participants will learn about postsecondary support programs and how students access resources. Attendees will leave with a new understanding of how vital student independence is for student success.
