Presented by Sarah Isaacs, Illinois Early Intervention Clearinghouse

Description

In this presentation, we will explore new books, DVDs, and other resources available through the Illinois Early Intervention Clearinghouse (EI Clearinghouse). The EI Clearinghouse is funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services and has many resources that can help families who have children with special needs. The materials can be mailed to you directly and then returned to your local public library free of charge. The collection consists of more than 8,000 books, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, and other materials, with most published within the past 10 years. The clearinghouse has two main collections:

(1) The Early Childhood and Elementary Collection offers information resources for families and professionals concerned about the growth and development of young children. A wide variety of subjects are included in this collection, ranging from challenges associated with having a premature baby to classroom behavior concerns to specific genetic disorders and diseases.

(2) The Autism and Young Adult Collection is a lending library of materials related to autism spectrum disorders and challenges that affect young adults with special needs and their families. A wide variety of subjects are included in this collection, such as sensory processing challenges, executive functioning skills, and puberty and dating.
